The Alaska Native Health Research Conference brings the Alaska research community together to foster new connections and share research conducted with and by Alaska Native peoples. The Alaska Native Tribal Health Consortium (ANTHC) Research Services Department and their partners present research on the following topics:

Integrating Genomics Research and Alaska Native/American Indian Perspectives

Explore the evolving field of genomics and its relevance to health. This session will include key concepts, historical time points, recent advances, and the potential of genomics in medicine.

Introduction to genomic research considerations with Tribal communities - 1:00 PM - 4:00 PM

Workshop Presenters: Julie Beans, MPH, Jessica Blanchard, PhD, Vanessa Hiratsuka, PhD

In this session, participants will explore Tribal community values, voice and control in the context of genomic research. We will discuss empiric examples and participants will evaluate the application of Tribal data sovereignty as it relates to genomic research data.
